When it comes to high-fashion collaborations in the sneaker industry, there are generally two ways to go about bridging the divide. First, you can take an existing, beloved silhouette like the Air Force 1 and give it to an iconic brand like Louis Vuitton or Tiffany. On the other hand, sneaker brands have also been known to introduce new or archive silhouettes with a big-name collab, followed by a quieter in-line drop riding the hype tail, like the current trajectory of the Nike Moon Shoe. At New Balance, the TF100 is in the middle of its own post-designer run.
The New Balance TF100 Black comes nearly a year after the silhouette debuted with the help of Junya Watanabe in a similar monochrome black shade. This time around, the FuelCell foam-stacked futuristic runner is draped in black suede with mesh and leather accents across the upper.
