New city, new smoothies, new sneakers. Giannis Antetokounmpo is getting all geared up for a new NBA season in his new hometown of Miami. Though the city may be new, the quest is as old as time, winning. For the average player, bearing the weight of a franchise can either prove to be motivational or insurmountable, but Giannis is far beyond the average player. The Greek Freak is looking to bring a ring to South Beach and he’s bringing the championship mentality to the locker room with the latest colorway of his signature sneaker.
The Nike Giannis Freak 8 Metallic Gold serves as a manifestation of Giannis’ championship aspirations. After reaching the mountaintop in 2021, the titan longs to reign on Mount Olympus once more, and the Metallic Gold colorway lays those hopes bare. The colorway takes a gilded look across the silhouette’s textured synthetic upper that stretches on the wing-shaped midsole.
The colorway doubles down on the golden aesthetic by covering the lateral and medial Swooshes, the Zeus-inspired tongue, and the GA logo on the heel tab, which gets a textured golden look as well. In order to anchor the golden look, black accents the throat and ankle collar of the sneaker. The translucent outsole completes the look and provides a harmonious balance to the black details on the upper.
The Nike Giannis Freak 8 will be released Fall 2026 via Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $115. For the latest news and release dates in the world of streetwear and sneakers, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
