Ken Griffey Jr. is best known as a Seattle Mariner, where he broke into the league with a bang, joining his father in the outfield and immediately making an impact at the plate, on the base paths, and with his glove. One of Nike’s last true signature athletes on the baseball diamond, Griffey’s latest Nike Air Griffey Max 1 is a callback to The Kid’s late-season career with the Cincinnati Reds.
The Nike Air Griffey Max 1 Cincinnati Reds is back after debuting during an earlier Griffey retro run in 2009, just a year before Griffey hung up his cleats for good. The colorway starts with a base of red leather on the toe and wavy bottom half of the side panel, with subtly speckled red paneling surrounding the lace panel.
A strip of white leather breaks through the Cincy red in the middle of the side panels to match the white midsole, and black is added to the toeside Swoosh, tongue, and ankle strap, with Junior’s 24 jersey number added in white against the black strap. Griffey Jr.’s career will always be full of injury-riddled what-ifs, but his career in Cincinnati still featured three All-Star Game appearances and is absolutely worth remembering.
The Nike Air Griffey Max 1 Cincinnati Reds will be released Holiday 2026 through Nike and select retailers in-store and online. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $180. For all the latest Nike Griffey retro news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever App.
