Only one person in the history of Major League Baseball was bold enough to wear a backward hat during their Hall of Fame induction speech. Ken Griffey Jr. has the sweetest swing in the history of baseball, and even with an injury-plagued back half of his career, The Kid was welcomed into Cooperstown with 99% of the vote on his first ballot. Of course, Griffey Jr. showed up to his speech with his hat backward, bringing his signature swag to every moment of his illustrious career.
The Nike Air Griffey Max 1 Hall of Fame is the latest pair from Griffey’s retro signature line to The Swoosh’s catalog. Mixing dark blue on the toe and lace panel, white jacquard fabric sits in between on the toebox and side panels, with gold accents on the laces, Swoosh, and 24 jersey branding on the velcro strap. Lastly, the colorway brings in hits of Mariners teal on the Swoosh border and midsole accents.
The colorway is a perfect match for the suit that Griffey wore during his Hall of Fame induction speech, right down to the detailed print on the white fabric and the gold of his tie. The backward hat might be missing, but you can add that part on your own.
The Nike Air Griffey Max 1 Hall of Fame will be released July 10, 2026, through Nike and select retailers in-store and online. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $180. For all the latest Ken Griffey Jr. Nike retro news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever App.
