Designed by the legendary Eric Avar, the Nike Kobe 4 is widely credited with shifting the landscape of basketball footwear by popularizing the low-top silhouette. Kobe Bryant debuted the model in 2009, but over a decade removed from its original drop, and Nike brought back the sneaker under the Protro (performance retro) banner. After a shift toward other Protro releases following the massive Kobe 4 Protro Draft Day Pack, Nike will head back to Bryant’s fourth signature sneaker in 2027 with a Protro of the All-Star colorway.
Nike Kobe 4 Protro All-Star Details
Originally debuted during the All-Star festivities in Phoenix in 2009, the colorway adhered to the NBA uniform guidelines that required sneakers to mostly match their uniforms, even during All-Star, but still managed to add its own visual standouts. Kobe, being a lifelong Laker, has a swath of red kicks thanks to the shade being the de facto representation of the Western Conference. As of late, The Swoosh has been tying its Kobe All-Star reissues to the host city of that year's festivities. Following the "3D" Kobe 6 reissue in Los Angeles, the return of the Kobe 4 aligns perfectly with the 2027 All-Star Weekend in Phoenix.
The All-Star colorway features a bold red upper anchored by Flywire side panels. A pop of white accents the Swoosh, laces, toebox, and midsole. The glossy red upper shifts from a darker red shade that nears maroon to a brighter shade at the toe giving it a subtle gradient effect. Gold accents fleck the Kobe sheath logo on the tongue and Bryant’s signature on the TPU heel counter. Wrapping up the look is a translucent gum outsole at the forefoot.

According to Brandon1an, the Nike Kobe 4 Protro All-Star is currently expected to drop during NBA All-Star Weekend in February 2027. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $190.
