It doesn’t matter if the World Cup is at the Linc, the MLB All-Star Game is next door, or if the entire city is shutting down to celebrate the country’s 250th birthday, Philadelphia is a football town. Case in point? A New Nike Kobe 5 Protro previewed by Vanessa Bryant this week, covered in shades of green and white to rep Kobe’s hometown Birds.
The Nike Kobe 5 Protro Eagles arrived in a new batch of Nike Kobe previews from Bryant on her Instagram Stories, with two photos posted alongside football and eagle emojis, just in case the connection wasn’t clear. Despite spending some time in Italy during his childhood, Kobe spent his teenage years in the Philadelphia suburbs, where he made his NFL allegiances clear.
From Vanessa Bryant’s images, you can see a white pebbled leather base on the toe and lace panels, with Eagles green suede on the toebox and side panels. The Swoosh is black and fuzzy like a letterman jersey, with a white embroidered border to match the white tongue. Lastly, the Kobe sheath tongue logo goes back to green. Go Birds.
According to Brandon1an, the Nike Kobe 5 Protro Eagles will be released January 16, 2027, through Nike and select retailers in-store and online. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $200. To stay up on all the latest Nike Kobe news, download the Sole Retriever app.
