The Black Mamba is going on a stampede for Nike’s latest holiday push. With the Lunar New Year hitting the calendar in February, Beaverton is bringing the Year of the Horse to life with a wide-ranging pack of galloping lifestyle classics, retro runners, and performance hoop shoes. Leading the basketball side of the stable, Nike is bringing out two colorways of the Kobe 8 Protro, but this new tan colorway actually has a different backstory.
While yes, there are clear horse references on this pair, the colorway is actually inspired by the time Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol had partial ownership in a racehorse. Black horse hair is found on the side panel Swoosh, while a patch of hairy suede on the toe covers the rest of the upper in short tan suede. The heel panel is baby blue with decorative white stitching for some Western cowboy vibes.

On the outsole, a full-foot gradient starts with purple on the front half of the shoe and transitions to light blue at the back, adding a sunset-colored spread. Just like the black pair of Kobe 8 EXT Protros and the Siempre Hermanos AF1, the colorway is finished with a horseshoe decal in the middle of the laces.
The Nike Kobe 8 EXT Protro Siempre Hermanos will be released April 24, 2026 through Nike and select retailers in-store and online. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $200. For all the latest Nike holiday news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
