Long before E-40 and Too $hort were popping trunks in California to sell tapes out of the back of their cars, the traveling salesman routine was perfected by the sneaker industry’s most iconic innovator, Nike founder Phil Knight. Driving from track meet to track meet with pairs in the trunk, Knight’s Plymouth Valiant was the first Nike store before Nike even existed.
As Nike returns to the Air Force 1 ‘01 shape for the iconic silhouette, the latest pair pays tribute to Knight’s Plymouth, combining green and metallic silver just like the 1963 Valiant. Sneaker News broke details of the pair this week, and Modern Notoriety quickly followed with in-hand photos, showing off the two-tone construction and script details on the carefully curated inline colorway.

Featuring metallic silver on the toe, lace, and heel panels, the Swoosh keeps the metallic silver theme but goes even brighter, acting like a mirror on the sidewall. The toebox and side panels switch to clean white leather to draw more attention to the olive green shade on the laces, outsole, and satin sockliner.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low '01 Shoe Dog will be released Spring 2027 through Nike and select retailers in-store and online. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is still TBD. For all the latest Nike AF1 news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever App.
