Nike’s Latest Air Force 1 is a Tribute to the Classic Video Game Def Jam: Fight for NY

Few video games in history have combined the worlds of pop culture and digital combat quite like record label Def Jam’s entrance into the gaming sphere with Def Jam: Vendetta and the follow-up Def Jam: Fight for NY games. Now, even without a proper collab, Nike is bringing back memories of the franchise that featured digital versions of real-life rappers fighting to the death with an Air Force 1 dedicated to the game.

The Nike Air Force 1 Low Def Jam: Fight for NY is a tribute to the game (not an official collab) on the most fitting shoe from the Nike catalog, an all-black Air Force 1 Low. The triple-black Forces feature a smaller-than-usual embroidered Swoosh on the side panel and a graffiti-style “NYKE” logo on the lateral heel. The colorway is finished with an icy blue outsole underfoot.

The shoes continue the NYC graffiti and hip-hop energy with the same logo NYKE logo added to a silver hangtag shaped like a paint marker, with graffiti script on the insoles spelling out “While you’re down there, how about you shine my shoes?” a finishing line from Def Jam: Fight for NY. The same quote is added in white, embedded into the bottom of the icy outsole.
