When Los Angeles-based artist Victor Solomon linked up with Nike to collaborate on three colorways to celebrate All-Star Weekend, Solomon decided to take the trophy off the court and distribute it across the city. Designing three pairs of classic silhouettes as tributes to select corners of the city, Solomon added Oscar-worthy gold hardware to a Sunset Strip Air Force 1.
The Victor Solomon x Nike Air Force 1 features a full white upper, but it’s nowhere near normal. The toe, lace panel, and heel get premium tumbled leather, but the toebox and side panels add the same intricate paisley stitching found on Solomon’s Air Max 90. The Swoosh is done in angled metallic gold, like an Academy Award, with more gold added on a pair of chain laces with basketball charms at the top. A black leather heel tab with Solomon’s signature rounds it all out.
In addition to the Air Force 1 for Sunset Boulevard, LA’s home for old Hollywood, ‘80s hair metal, and the current location of the Supreme store, the pack features a Diamond District Air Max 90 and a Foamposite representing the waves of the westside beaches.
