A new basketball season is here for hoopers at every level, from elementary school to the NBA, and, of course, that means new shoes. From new silhouettes and collaborations to retro revivals, there are more sneaker choices for hoopers than ever before, but one five-year-old Nike model is still holding strong as a favorite of ballers everywhere: the Nike GT Cut 1.
The shoe that started it all for Nike’s now-beloved Greater Than (GT) line, the GT Cut 1 has been in and out of the Beaverton catalog since 2021, with a recent retro revival to go along with the launch of the GT Cut 4. Now, after three pairs of PEs from Spurs star Dylan Harper and a couple Nike summer youth circuit PEs, the silhouette is back for the new season, and it's already on fire from the field.

The Nike GT Cut 1 Flames features a black base with soft fabric on the toebox and tongue and an armored mesh on the side panels that gives way to a black patent lace panel with blue stabilizing panels, and orange shining through behind the mesh. The midsole brings the real heat, with a bright red and black base, orange striking through the sides, and flame graphics flickering up the heel.
The Nike GT Cut 1 Flames will be released Holiday 2026 through Nike and select retailers in-store and online. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $190. For all the latest Nike PE news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever App.
