When we heard there was a LeBron 23 colorway dubbed For the Record, we assumed it would be a tribute to one of The King’s many record-setting achievements over his career, but with so many top spots in the record book, that wasn’t very specific. The shoe leaves no doubt to which record it celebrates, though, covered in “38,388,” the number of points it took to break Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time NBA scoring record.
The Nike Lebron 23 Elite For The Record features a lower half covered in color-changing iridescent on the crown-shaped support structure. Above that, a jacquard print white fabric weaves an all-over “38,388” design into the top half of the upper. A gold mini Swoosh on the lateral toe matches the gold tongue logo for some regal accents.
The 38,388 theme continues onto the medial side panel, where the number is added in more gold to the white leather support panel, with each individual digit topped by its own gold crown. An icy blue outsole sits underneath to complete the King James scoring tribute. Because this pair is a LeBron 23 Elite, the colorway features an internal bootie structure instead of a traditional tongue and collar, though the GS version pictured here is done in the traditional build.
The Nike Lebron 23 Elite For The Record will be released April 10, 2026 through Nike and select retailers in-store and online. Available in adult and grade school sizing, the retail prices are set at $235 (men’s) and $165 (GS). For all the latest Nike LeBron news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever App.
