Deion Sanders was a problem on the field and a smooth operator off. The combination of must-watch play and his boisterous attitude earned him the name Prime Time. During his playing days, Prime accrued a fleet of vehicles, most of which he coated in black and red. That array of cars got him a shoutout on Young Dro’s seminal 2006 track “Shoulder Lean,” wherein he said “red, black, and white Chevy, now I’m ridin’ Deion” as a nod to the superstar cornerback. Now, it looks like Nike is taking inspiration from Deion’s signature color palette for an upcoming colorway of his classic Nike Air Diamond Turf 2.

The upcoming Nike Diamond Turf 2 Black Gym Red features a glossy patent leather upper that echoes the clean shine of Prime’s car collection. Minimal red accents appear throughout, including the Swoosh on the signature midfoot strap, the inner bootie, the Air branding on the lateral heel, and the mini Swoosh on the medial heel.
It also trims the heel tab as well as pops up on the rubberized heel logo that combines a goalpost with a baseball plate to highlight Sander’s rare position as a dual-sport athlete. The silhouette’s usual golden mesh peers through the cutouts on the side panels to offer an extra pop of color as well as some much-needed ventilation. A matte black sole unit anchors the sportscar-inspired colorway, and white 21 branding on the tongue wraps up the look.
