The sneaker industry has a habit of overplaying its hand once a new silhouette finds success. Whether it's resources, trend forecasting, or just supply and demand, new models often drop with immediate inline blitzes that oversaturate retail shops with endless colorways before consumers can even cop their first pair. With the Air Liquid Max, Nike has taken a slower approach.
The Nike Air Liquid Max AW Black Metallic Silver switches up the silhouette’s standard amphian skin upper, replacing it with a mix of black mesh, armored fabric, and a series of topographical map-style silver lines curving across the bottom of the upper, from toe to heel with a few bumps in the middle.

Starting with about 10 tight lines curved around the toe on top of the reinforced black fabric. Behind the tough waterproof upper, a mix of black mesh covers the toebox, lace panel, ankle collar, and tongue. A silver metallic Swoosh on the side panel serves as a bumper for the wavy lines, which reappear on the tongue logo. Finally, the frog-inspired Air unit underfoot gets a translucent orange hit for a pop of color.
The Nike Air Liquid Max AW Black Metallic Silver will be released Fall 2026 through Nike and select retailers in-store and online. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $220. For all the latest Nike Air Max news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever App.
