When Nike has a new tech-forward silhouette with some off-kilter design language, you can almost guarantee that Beaverton is going to tap in with Hiroshi Fujiwara’s fragment design to help roll it out. After lacing the Nike Mind collection in Flyknit and bringing the Book 2 its first collab, fragment’s next Nike project takes a triple-black approach to the all-new Nike Air Liquid Max.
The fragment design x Nike Air Liquid Max is the second colorway of the reptilian-inspired Air Max we’ve seen, following a green and black colorway that Nike-sponsored rapper Yeat broke out in his last music video. This time around, Fujiwara and fragment keep things simple, going all black, adding fragment design lightning bolt logos in more black, and fragment product details in white around the ankle collar.

Debuting during Nike’s annual March Air Max celebration, the Nike Air Liquid Max is an avant-garde evolution of the DN8, mixing patent shine and high-tech mesh for a sneaker that kind of looks like a gecko, but in a good way. In addition to the point-loaded Air units below, a drop-in Cushlon foam midsole adds to the comfort of the model. Allegedly, it’s one of the most comfortable Air Max sneakers to date, but we’ll be the judge of that once we get a pair in hand.
The fragment design x Nike Air Liquid Max will be released Spring 2026, with rumor that it will hit shelves on March 26, 2026, this year’s Air Max Day. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $225. For all the latest Nike Air Max news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever App.
