It’s no stretch to say that one of the Marvel Universe’s smartest heroes is also one of its flyest. Reed Richards, better known as Mr. Fantastic, has finally recreated the conditions that resulted in the Fantastic Four. Well, the Fantastic Four-inspired Nike collection last seen in 2006, that is.
During Marvel’s First Family’s initial film run in the early 2000s, Nike concocted a four-pack collection inspired by the distinguishing features of the squad. While Richards’ stretching ability couldn’t be adapted for the collection, the Nike Air Max 90 Mr. Fantastic highlights the quartet’s signature color scheme the best in the collection. Soon, the super scientist’s slick shoes are set to stretch back on shelves in the subsequent summer.
The silhouette aims to accurately mirror the classic tonal blue outfits seen in the comics, with a shade of Harbor Blue gracing the mesh base and stretching onto the premium leather overlays. A deeper shade of Military Blue pops up on the support structures like the eyelets and heel tab, mirroring the super squad’s detailing like the gloves, boots, belt, and collar.
Further enhancing the look are white accents on the Swoosh, Nike Air branding on the heel, and inner collar lining. The clean color represents the white 4 sigil that is brandished on each member’s chest. That same shade of white covers the foam midsole, while the original Harbor Blue tint returns for the outsole to complete the look.
According to zSneakerHeadz, the Nike Air Max 90 Mr. Fantastic will be released Summer 2027 via Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Releasing in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $155. Check below to see images of the original 2006 pair.
