Every region in the US has its own style and a specific Nike sneaker it champions. On the West Coast, it’s the Cortez; in NYC, it's Uptowns (Air Force 1s); and in the DMV, there are two models: the Foamposite and the Air Max Goadome (the latter colloquially referred to as Nike Boots). Nike married the DMV’s two favs and created the Foamdome in 2008, a winter boot ready to tackle the elements with its reinforced Foamposite upper. Following its last appearance in 2016, Nike plans to retro the silhouette in its iconic Eggplant colorway near the end of 2026.
Pictured here is the 2016 Eggplant, with the 2026 iteration expected to be a 1:1 retro of this pair. It’s possible the shade of purple is slightly different, as this new release comes with electric purple as opposed to the varsity purple used a decade ago.

Nike Foamdome Eggplant (2016)
Aside from the color possibly being a tad different, the construction of the sneaker will remain the same, with Foamposite material making up the mudguard and midfoot panels. No-sew leather on the toe helps with the winterization of the model, while more black leather forms the tongue, collar, and eyestays. Finishing the sneaker is the black midsole with visible Air units in purple and a purple and black outsole.
We can’t talk Foamdome without mentioning one of the people responsible for popularizing both sneakers used in this remix, Wale. The DMV native has a long history of rocking both Goadomes and Foamposites, and he actually received his very own Foamdome colorway in 2008. Limited to just 95 pairs, as a nod to the I-95 interstate, Wale’s version of the hybrid model came in a royal blue hue to honor the original Nike Air Foamposite colorway.
Following that F&F collab, there was no sign of a Nike x Wale project, but in 2024, Nike had the rapper headline a campaign for the DMV-inspired Nike Air Foamposite One Cherry Blossom, and a year later, he received his own friends-and-family colorway of the Goadome to celebrate his new album, everything is a lot. His first publicly available collab came shortly after on the newly released Nike GT Future. Hopefully, Nike is smart and lets Wale lead the charge for the bring back of the Foamdome.
The Nike Air Max Foamdome Eggplant will be released Holiday 2026 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $265.
