The Olympics are headed to Los Angeles in 2028, bringing the summer games to the US for the first time since the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, where a strong US showing on the medal stand, and the shock of a bombing explosion during an outdoor fan festival at Centennial Park, became the event’s lasting legacy. The Atlanta Olympics also inspired plenty of iconic gear and sneaker colorways, including a clean teal colorway of the Nike Air Trainer SC made for the Games’ 20th anniversary.
As we arrive at the 30th anniversary of the ‘96 Olympics, Nike is once again bringing back the Atlanta colorway of the Air Trainer SC, this time trading the 2016 pair’s teal suede for a coat of soft purple. The pair features a base of shaggy purple suede with the same shade of purple on the leather that covers the rest of the upper. White straps on the side panel feature gold accents and gold hardware at the top to match the gold Nike logo on the left tongue.
Atlanta Olympics references are added with a thick embroidered peach graphic on the right tongue, ‘96 branding on the insoles, and a clear outsole featuring hits of red, teal, yellow, and orange, just like the logo from the ‘96 Olympics. Hits of white on the tongue, laces, and midsole round it out and bring more pop to the purple.
The Nike Air Trainer SC Atlanta Olympics 30th Anniversary will be released June 2026 through Nike and select retailers in-store and online. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $140. For all the latest Nike news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever App.
