Superior Spikes: Faith Kipyegon’s Nike Air Zoom Victory Elite Track Shoe is Getting a Retail Drop for $400

When two-time Olympic gold medal-winning track star Faith Kipyegon announced her plans to attempt to break a four-minute mile, Nike went all out to help her achieve the goal. Last summer, The Swoosh constructed a custom Fly Suit, FlyWeb sports bra, and the Air Zoom Victory Elite FK designed specifically to increase Kipyegon’s speed. The June attempt came up short by six seconds, but don’t worry, Kipyegon will have another shot soon, this time in Nike’s home state.

While Kipyegon gets ready to headline the return of the mile to the Diamond League Prefontaine Classic at the University of Oregon for the first time in 30 years, she won’t be the only one with access to Nike’s fastest track spike. Following last summer’s debut in the four-minute mile attempt, Nike is dropping the Air Zoom Victory Elite Faith Kipyegon at retail.

The Kipyegon Victory Elite is constructed with six permanent titanium spikes attached directly to the carbon fiber plate instead of more traditional screw-in cleats. The ultra-light track shoe adds a Zoom Air unit in the heel that’s optimized for energy return, and combined with the featherlight titanium spikes, expect to see a few pairs on the track this summer in Oregon. Beyond the mile, the shoe has been approved for use in all track events, jumping events, throwing events, and track race walking events - shoutout the race walkers of the world, we see you.
