Nike’s N7 program has been around for decades, producing limited-release sneakers and funding grants focused on uplifting Native American communities across the country. After rounding out last year’s N7 program with a ghostly green-tinted Air Max 90, the collection is back for the new year with a pair of Gatos in a mix of materials, textures, and colors.
The Nike Gato N7 keeps the shape of the indoor soccer favorite, but covers it in a knit toebox that makes it instantly stand out from in-line pairs. The colorway features a maroon suede toe that gives way to the tight-knit orangish-red toebox with a bright blue mini Swoosh on the vamp. On the side panels and tongue, creamy suede and mesh add some contrast to the colorway, while deep blue canvas mingles between the cut-out panels and the ankle collar.
More color is added to the heel panel in green suede to match the side panel Swoosh, which also features a burnt orange outline to match the toebox. A graphic pattern is added to the sockliner to drive home the N7 theme, with an N7 logo on the tongue.
