It’s soccer season. Not only is the weather getting warm, but World Cup fever is bringing an intense focus on the globe’s favorite game, not only for fans, but for sneaker brands like Jordan, adidas, and Nike. Hitting soccer fans with a dose of nostalgia ahead of the summer’s tournament, Nike is bringing back one of the most famous cleats of all time.
The Cristiano Ronaldo x Nike Mercurial Superfly 1 Max Orange was launched in 2009 as one of the first super cleats, combining then-new Flywire technology and a carbon fiber plate in the sole. With Ronaldo taking on the role of pitchman, the Superfly 1 was a revolution in cleat culture, and anyone who was playing soccer in the late 2000s remembers its impact.
This time around, the CR7 x Nike Mercurial Superfly 1 Max Orange keeps the same colorway as the OG, but updates the tech with 17 years of Nike performance advancements, adding a 3/4-length Air Zoom unit built into the traction plate, a chevron stud wave pattern, and a tacky, soft finish for supreme ball control.
The Cristiano Ronaldo x Nike Mercurial Superfly 1 Max Orange will be released Summer 2026 through Nike and select retailers in-store and online. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $300. For all the latest Nike cleat news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever App.
