Gems are huge in the sneaker industry right now. Nike got in on the Vans-influenced trend with a sparkly pair of fuzzy, bejeweled Shox Z, and now, The Swoosh is switching things up, leaving the studded jewelry to the side in favor of vivid colors taken from the world of precious gemstones.
The Nike Moon Shoe Malachite (W) is the latest pair of the never-released retro to hit Nike’s in-line catalog, and it takes its monochromatic upper from the bright green gemstone Malachite. The soft fabric upper is stabilized by suede patches on the side panels, with a white Swoosh swooping forward from the heel for a bit of bright contrast. Like most of Nike’s in-line Moon Shoe drops, the outsole brings back a classic tan gum waffle pattern.

Getting to the moon takes time, whether you’re NASA or Nike. The Moon Shoe was designed in 1971, before Nike switched its name from Blue Ribbon Sports, but was never released to the public. Now, more than half a century later, with the help of French fashion house Jacquemus and Olympic star Alysa Liu, Nike is finally giving the Moon Shoe its shine in collab and in-line colorways.
The Nike Moon Shoe OG Malachite (W) will be released Fall 2026 through Nike and select retailers in-store and online. Available in women’s sizing, the retail price is set at $105. For all the latest Nike Moon Shoe news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever App.
