No colorway across Nike’s sneakers catalog is as iconic as the Nike Cortez’s Forrest Gump makeup. The pair featured in the film starring Tom Hanks as the titular character was a standard GR white, red, and blue colorway that has gone down in history thanks to the movie. Since then, it’s become a staple on various Nike models that recreate the look of the Cortez. Following the recent re-release of the original Cortez colorway and a recreation on Devin Booker’s Nike Book 1, Nike is bringing the Forrest Gump color palette to one of its hottest new silhouettes — the Nike Pegasus Premium.
First launched in the Airscape colorway in January of this year, the Pegasus Premium has been a hit as a performance sneaker that can crossover into the lifestyle segment. Once again leaning into this lifestyle category, the Peg Premium is dressed in a primarily white color palette across its circular knit upper, separated between two woven patterns by a fused TPU film. A red Swoosh, redone to more closely resemble the logo on the Cortez, bursts off the lateral midfoot and the medial collar.
