The internet has been around for long enough now that the home video hilarity of America’s Home Videos has been entirely replaced by cell phone videos and constant surveillance camera footage, leaving truth and intent in limbo. Every once in a while, though, a local news camera captures something so funny that it lives on in viral fame for years, if not decades, to come.
In 2014, a snowstorm hit Oregon, and a local Portland news crew hit the streets to interview local residents who were braving the fluffy cold to get their exercise. After an interview with two 3M-clad runners about how the soft snow makes a perfect surface for running, the woman on camera jogs away, immediately hits a patch of ice, and falls hard to the cement. Now, with winter on the way, Nike is celebrating the hilarious viral clip with a Pegasus Premium designed to match the jogger’s outfit.
Starting with a snow-white base on the knit mesh upper, the Nike Pegasus Premium Perfect Texture for Running adds the Portland winter runner’s neon yellow jacket color to the front half of the shoe, and the reporter’s blue jacket to the back half. In between, 3M reflective panels match both jackets for extra night run visibility, even when you eat it on a patch of black ice. On the insole is a quote from the woman in the video, "The perfect texture for running," alongside a Nike-branded "Live" graphic mimicking the on-air broadcast.
The Nike Pegasus Premium Perfect Texture for Running will be released Holiday 2026, through Nike and select retailers in-store and online. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $220. For all the latest Nike Running news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever App.
