When the Nike PG 1 first dropped in 2017, Paul George was an Indiana Pacer with the world in front of him. In the years since, George has been hindered by injuries and put up plenty of All-Star seasons, but he’s still looking for that first championship ring and hoping he can find it with Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, and the Sixers. Nike is adding a little extra motivation in 2026, bringing back the beloved Nike PG 1 ahead of the model’s 10th anniversary.
Joining rare air as an active player with a retro shoe, we first got wind of the PG 1 return with a Flip the Switch re-release. Now, Nike is adding to the recent nostalgia with one of the model’s best colorways, the Checkmate or White Ice. Paul George has had a tumultuous career on the court, with a handful of past team jerseys in his closet and nothing that quite stuck. On the Sixers, he’s struggled to find a place amongst the mix of young guards and Embiid’s frequent absence and interior dominance. On the signature sneaker side of things, George’s 2017-2022 run was one of the more successful lines, though, so it's no surprise to see it return.
The Nike PG 1 White Ice will be released Spring 2026 through Nike and select retailers in-store and online. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is still TBD. For all the latest NBA signature sneaker news, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
