The Westside Gunn x Sacuony Grid Jazz 9 Awesome Gods first popped up on Instagram in pictures from Gunn’s global tour. The pair then showed up in Paris at Fashion Week, but thanks to Westside Gunn’s creative control on the collab, the shoe had to wait until the Buffalo star was ready. In an Instagram post debuting the pair, Westside Gunn noted that he was inspired by sneaker collabs from atmos and Jeremy Scott, with the influence clear in the bold color and print choices.
“I wanted to do something that was next level,” Gunn wrote on Instagram. “So I went heavy on details and quality. This is a designer sneaker…could be sold at Saks/Neimans. Literally anybody who's ever seen this sneaker goes crazy, and anybody who had the honor to wear them already won’t take them off because of the comfort level.”
