Nature has a funny way of making its most deadly animals its most beautiful. From majestic big cats and snakes with geometric camouflage to brightly colored frogs and the classic yellow bumblebee, if you’re out on a hike and you see some wildlife that looks like it belongs in a museum, it's probably best to stay away. At German sneaker boutique AFEW, the shop’s latest collaboration lets you touch one of nature’s most beautiful beasts without the sting that usually comes with it.
The AFEW x Saucony ProGrid Omni 9 Tara Hawk is a retro runner covered in shiny color-shifting panels just like the body of the world’s most deadly wasp, the tarantula hawk. Taking after the tara hawk’s iridescent blue body, the upper of the ProGrid Omni 9 collab shifts with the sun, blending into its surroundings and letting predators know to keep their distance.
Starting with a black leather structure on the toe, lace panel, and ankle collar, the rest of the upper switches to a mesh mix of gradient shades that spread across the shoe in blue, gold, and purple like an oil spill. Yellow accents on the midfoot stabilizer shine like the tara hawk’s gold wings, with a mix of black and grey on the midsole rounding out the color-changing collab.
The AFEW x Saucony ProGrid Omni 9 Tara Hawk will be released November 7, 2026, through AFEW in-store and online. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $220. To keep up with all the latest Saucony collab news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever App.
