The 3D printing masterminds at Zellerfeld are advancing their production pace at a rate that is finally bringing one-piece printed shoes to the masses. In addition to Zellerfeld’s work with independent brands like Baron Davis’ OverDose, the 3D printing wizards are making waves with the big brands like Nike, and a recent uptick in printing production has led to a version 2 rollout of the Nike Air Max 1000 that’s hitting shelves in larger quantities than in the past.
Faster Printing, Faster Drops
The Nike Air Max 1000.2 Black Hyper Crimson keeps the triple-black upper from the first pair of AM 1000.2 we saw late last month, but adds a bright Hyper Crimson red to the Air bubble in the heel. With red in the Air bubble, you can see the Air Max 1000.2 branding in white on top of the see-through window.

The Nike Air Max 1000.2 reshaped the outsole and lugs of the 3D-printed shoe, but to the naked eye, the design largely remains the same. The true difference in the V2 update comes on the production side, where advancements will speed up production time and bring new colorways to the market sooner, as we can see with the Hyper Crimson colorway’s quick follow-up drop after the 1000.2 announcement.
