New Balance has figured out a solid formula for rolling out new silhouettes. While the Made in USA and Made in UK teams take care of the archival suede and mesh models, new models like the AC Runner, RC56, and ABZORB 2000 are introduced with collabs and then slowly worked into the inline model. For the ABZORB 1890, New Balance got things started with the help of Action Bronson, and now, we’ve got a look at a clean, inline colorway up next.
The New Balance 1890 Faded Black Utility Green features a black mesh base with a no-stitch synthetic structure overlayed by teardrop cutouts and utility green curving around the border and splashed onto the side panel “N” logo. Two-tone black and grey laces add some reflective shine, with more utility green added to the 1890 and ABZORB branding on the lateral heel.

Underneath, New Balance took the ABZORB-packed sole unit from the original 2002 with a full foot of ABZORB pods in grey and more green. If you were unaware, the 2002R we know today uses the sole unit from the 860v2, with the OG’s tooling making a comeback on this new model that borrows design details from the archival 890v2 silhouette. A black outsole sits underneath to complete the colorway.
The New Balance 1890 Faded Black Utility Green will be released March 12, 2026 through New Balance and select retailers in-store and online. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $180. For all the latest New Balance news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
