Sneakers are always getting updates, be it a new signature silhouette for a sports star or a waterproof material added to iconic silhouettes. Even the Air Force 1 has sequels. But when it comes to Nike’s futuristic 3D-printed Air Max 1000, a new update is more like an operating system update on your phone or laptop.
The Nike Air Max 1000.2 is the latest collaboration between Nike and the 3D-printed footwear wizards at Zellerfeld, and comes as part of Nike's Air Works program that taps designers from around the globe. Keeping the shape and feel of the 3D-printed version of the Air Max 1, the new Air Max 1000.2 reconstructs the outsole with a new lug design and streamlined shape updates.

While the shoe will largely look the same, the Air Max 1000.2 will be faster to produce, allowing Nike to drop more volume of the shoe and presumably, more colorways. “Just like software, the design continues to evolve with each iteration, where every release acts as an update, refining the product through continuous improvements to geometry, performance, and print efficiency,” Nike said about the 3D-printing advancements.
The Nike Air Max 1000.2 will be released through an EQL raffle from Zellerfeld that opens May 4, 2026 and closes May 7, with a SNKRS drop joining the party on May 7 as well. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $179. For all the latest Nike news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever App.
